Trafsense®’s AID functionalities – Stopped vehicle

A stopped vehicle is a highly critical incident that needs to reliably trigger an alarm to the traffic control centre including the position of the vehicle. This will allow for optimum damage control. Trafsense®'s > 99% reliability is proven by controlled stop tests. An example is shown below together with the nominal position uncertainty in a camera-based AID system:

Results from controlled Trafsense® stop tests in the bidirectional Husafjell tunnel on FV554 in Rogaland (Norway): The uncertainty in detecting a stopped vehicle is +/- 7.5 m.

Benchmarking Trafsense® against a typical camera-based AID-system with length of individual detection zones 60 (or +/- 30) m shows that Trafsense®’s uncertainty in deciding the position of a stopped vehicle is 75% lower.
